Mechanical Design Engineer

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

• Mechanical engineer with a minimum five years experience in design, development and testing.
  
• Excellent communications skills and the ability to articulate concepts to others
  
• Must have demonstrated ability to transform conceptual designs into reliable, affordable and producible products and systems.
  
• Must be familiar with packaging equipment and automated systems.
  
• Must have experience with mechanical design and installation for electro-mechanical and pneumatic actuators.
  
• Extensive experience with latest version of PDM & Solid Works.
  
• Registered or eligible for Professional Engineers of Ontario (PEO) registration.

• Mechanical design, packaging, analysis and testing.
  
• Conduct finite element analysis of stress, vibration, kinematics and thermal modeling of electro-mechanical / hydraulic and pneumatic equipment.
  
• Prepare design specifications, drawings, test plans and reports as required.
  
• Provide customer service and support including system documentation & preparation of operating manuals.
  
• Provide guidance and mentoring to junior engineers. Direct, coordinate and review activities of engineering/design groups.
  
• Develop a Functional Requirements Specification to guide design activity.
  
• Ongoing client consultation and problem resolution.
  
• Must have current knowledge of automation and control systems.
  
• Will liaise with vendors and customers for technical information and specifications.
  
• Adhere to all health and safety rules and procedures.
  
• Assemble and issue shop information packages comprised of pictorial drawings and bills of material for product production launch.
  
• Ensure the ongoing integrity of product design pictorial drawings and Bills of Material, subsequently archived in the corporate information database, so that the information accurately reflects "as-Built" systems shipped to the end users.
  
• Participate in establishing scopes of work for retrofit of existing systems in service at customer operations.
